Emily Haberman

LCSW, PMH-C

Emily (she/her) is a NJ licensed mental health therapist with a specialty in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
There are thousands of parenting books and momfluencers offering quick fixes and inspirational quotes for the myriad issues that arise in pregnancy, postpartum and parenting. I love a witty meme and parenting hack as much as the next person... but your experience is undoubtedly deeper and more complex than an insta post or page in a book. I believe that, as a parent or parent-to-be, you inherently hold the answers you seek. I offer a space that centers YOU (not your baby!) to uncover the wise inner parent that already exists within.

Inner Parent Therapy is an affirming space where you will be heard and believed.

The PARENT, not the child, is the focus of our work.

All family structures and identities are warmly welcomed.

About 1 in 5 parents can expect to experience a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, etc.) during pregnancy and in the year following birth. How did we get here??

  • Regardless of how we came to be a parent, there are massive hormone fluctuations, identity and role changes and of course… insufferable sleep deprivation.

  • Expected or unexpected challenges such as fertility issues, traumatic birth, NICU stays, feeding difficulties, and so many more may arise and can stress our already fragile sense of balance when moving into the parenthood role.

  • To be a parent in America is to swim upstream in a river of unhelpful messages and policies that enforce toxic individualism. The lack of federal parental paid leave, affordable childcare and other basic supports is a set up for burnout and impossible choices.

  • Any and all of this just makes us so. damn. tired.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. YOU ARE NOT TO BLAME. WITH HELP, YOU WILL BE WELL.

Caring for your kids and watching them grow is one of the most rewarding endeavors on earth, and at the same time it can drive you nuts.
